5 Things That Made Me Happy In January

One of my goals for 2017 was to be positive. My mind seems to be stuck in a negative rut. No matter what I think of, I always think of it in a negative way first before realising there are obviously positives. I believe that this is one of the worst traits about myself, but it is something that I want to completely transform in 2018, and I hope that by the end of the year, all the work I will have done on my mind will completely pay off and I will automatically think if a positive way.
To help me achieve the transition to a positive mindset, I've been trying to do various things. Every evening, either when I'm driving home from work or doing something in my flat, I say out loud 5 things that have made me happy that day, it can be tiny or huge, there really are no limits. Some days it can be a cup of tea first thing in the morning, to loving how my hair looks. I've noticed that doing this everyday is actually having a huge effect on my mindset and is helping me to adjust to thinking positively.
For my blog throughout 2018 I want to do a monthly roundup of things that have made me feel great. Meaning if I am feeling particularly crappy over a long period of time, I am able to look back and see things aren't actually that bad. So here are 5 things that have made me happy in January!

Getting professional help for my mental health

This was one of my resolutions for the year and I did it in the second week of January. Even though I was incredibly nervous and cried a hell of a lot during my first session, I did it!! The first session was just an assessment to see what sort of help I needed. I am now on a waiting list for a Self Esteem and CBT course, which again I am super nervous but I know it is going to be the best thing for me. I am so proud that I did this so early on in the year, and I should hopefully be starting the course in March.

Seeing Paramore

I went to see one of my favourite bands with James! I absolutely love Paramore and their gigs are always incredible. I spent the evening dancing and singing as loud as I possibly could to all of my favourite songs. Also if you have been to a gig on the Paramore tour, how banging did Hayley Williams look? Ultimate girl crush.

Booking a city break with James

Despite the fact that me and James have been on a ton of trips together, we've never been abroad. This year we want to do two Europe city breaks and one week sun holiday. We've booked our first city break to Berlin and we are going on the 1st of Feb! I am beyond excited, we've received a ton of recommendations of things to do from our friends and we cannot wait to get exploring.

Planning for the year

If you know me well, you'll know that I tend to be quite organised with most aspects of my life. I love planning ahead and ensuring that I always have things in my diary. I've been plotting in lots of different exciting things throughout the year, think gigs, festivals, visiting friends etc. I want to make sure I have at least one thing each month to look forward to, and so far so good!!

Spending quality time with friends

I have quite a lot of friends that live in different cities to me, so ensuring I have quality time with my friends is so important to me. Because I have my own flat it is fairly easy to arrange dates for my friends to come and stay with me. There is nothing I appreciate more than an evening with one of my best friends, spent catching up, laughing our heads off and just completely filling my heart with joy.

I'd love to know what 5 things made you happy in January and if you have any tips for being positive!
