Learning All Things Skincare with Kiehl's

A couple of weeks ago, I attended the Kiehl's Cardiff blogger event. It was the first time I'd been to a Kiehl's event, and actually the first time I'd ever been in the store. Because I have bad acne, I often feel intimidated when I approach skincare stores as I always feel like they're going to judge me for having bad skin. However, I actually left the event feeling a lot more confident and felt like I had an insight on how to tackle my problematic skin that would actually work.
The first part of the event consisted of wandering round the store, with a lavender prosecco in hand, thanks Pitch BarI stuck with my blogging babes (Laura, AbiPaige and Jessie) and had a nose at the vast range of products that Kiehl's have in store, everything from anti ageing products to a hydration focused section, to an entire range of men's skincare. There is something for every skin type in store.

The next part of the event consisted of the lovely Cardiff Kiehl's team giving us background about the brand, and then telling us their favourite products from the store and why. I didn't know this, but Kiehl's first opened their store in New York in 1851, and was a pharmacy rather than a skincare brand. After years of developing their products, Kiehl's is now a skincare brand with a pharmaceutical background meaning their products really focus on healing the skin.

The final part of the event was my favourite, and one of the most interesting elements. My very own skin consultation. Now as soon as the team mentioned about skin consultations, I was absolutely dreading it, the thought of having my makeup removed in front of other bloggers and staff with perfect skin absolutely horrified me. To my very pleasant surprise, I didn't have to have my makeup removed.

I had my skin consultation by the absolute babe Katie. If you're Cardiff based and suffer with skin issues, I would 100% recommend seeing Katie, she was super professional and completely put me at ease. During my skin consultation, I had a test to see if my skin was dry or oily, mine was a severe combination, obviously *massive eye roll*.  My skin was then tested for hydration, the average persons skin is meant to be 40% hydrated.. Mine was 15%, so incredibly low! After testing my skin, Katie talked me through the ideal skincare regime that I should be using in order to get my skin to the best it can be. The photo above includes which products I should be using for my skin type.
This really opened my eyes that I definitely wasn't looking after my skin well enough. I left the event feeling super motivated and positive about my new skincare routine! I didn't buy any of the Kiehl's products that Katie recommended to me because currently my bank balance can't stretch that far. So for now I'm having to adapt with products I already own, but I will definitely be investing soon!
Have you tried any Kiehl's products before?
