*Prepare yourself for a photo heavy post*
If you follow me on Instagram, you will be aware that I recently went to Friends Fest in Cardiff. As far as I am aware this is the second summer that Friends Fest has been running in the UK? I remember seeing a ton of posts from people last year and was insanely jealous! However this year, smug old me nabbed tickets as soon as I could for myself and James. We absolutely love Friends so we were super excited to go and explore all of the sets and take a ton of photos (Me, more so than James).
With our tickets in hand, and our endless Friends puns at the ready, we headed to Bute Park in the glorious summer rain. After spending about 87 hours, not literally but it felt that bloody long, to actually find the festival. We finally got our tickets scanned, picked up a poncho and headed straight to our set tour. Now, we were so so excited about this part, I couldn't wait to see actual sets from one of my favourite TV programmes ever, and bloody hell I wasn't dissapointed. As soon as we entered the set tour, we were greeted with props and costumes, you had about 10 minutes to explore each area and take as many photos as you like. Now, this first section for me wasn't about taking the photos, because honestly, am I going to look back at a photo of myself and Ross' leather pants and think ahhhhh good times, probably not. Although I did get a photo with the holiday armadillo costume, as it is a personal fave. Instead, we looked around, pointed and laughed at different props such as The Geller Cup, Science Boy and some of Phoebe's hideous outfits. After watching a behind the scenes clip, we were then led into our first set room - Joey and Chandlers Apartment!!!!! Now, alongside everyone else on our tour, we did a squeal of excitement as soon as we saw the Lay-Z Boys and the classic kitchen. Immediately jumping in to get all of the photos, we found ourselves building a friendship with another couple, we would take their photos, they would take ours. It was absolutely awesome to be on the set, and see how much detail actually went into the set build, I was literally expecting Mathew Perry to walk into the kitchen.
After a quick photo in the infamous hallway, we then went into Monica and Rachel's apartment - now, another absolute classic in TV history and one that is easily recognisable to anyone, actually left me and James with a slightly bitter taste in our mouths. Although it was absolutely awesome again, we felt like certain aspects of this set weren't quite accurate to what we remember. After taking the classic kitchen photo and a photo by the the infamous door, our set tour was finished! Onto to Central Perk we went..
Despite a long queue, which actually was a blessing in disguise as it meant we got to hide from the horrific downpour, we got our photo taken outside Central Perk, sung along to classic Phoebe Buffay songs, and explored the delights of the cafe, and got our photo taken on the orange sofa!! Next onto another photo opportunity and one of the longest queues of the day.. The end credits!!! After spending the majority of our time in the queue deciding what pose we were going to do for our photo, it was our time to shine!! Although it took about 4 attempts to do our Boomerang, it was so much fun and the outcome was perfect. Head over to my Instagram to have a look!
The only thing I didn't like about the day was how utterly crap the weather was, meaning we couldn't sit on a deck chair and watch endless episodes of Friends in between set tours and photo opportunities, it meant we were rushing from queue to queue so we didn't get wet! Other than that, the day was absolutely amazing and so much fun!! I've done the Harry Potter studio tours twice, and now Friends Fest too, and I can safely say I bloody love them now. I am so so ready for someone to create a How I Met Your Mother set tour!
Have you been to Friends Fest? I'd love to know your favourite bit!
