Reading is something I have always loved since a young age, maybe because I've grown up around my mother, who is an avid reader, honestly she sometimes has about 3 books on the go at once. I remember when I was younger during the summer holidays, I would constantly go to the library and do their reading challenges! I absolutely loved it. As an adult, reading is a pure form of escapism, something tv, film and the internet can't give me. I am sucked into someone else's world and forget all of the crappy things happening in this world for a short amount of time.
We Were on a Break - Lindsey Kelk
If anyone ever asks me for a book recommendation, I will always recommend Lindsey Kelk. I did a review of her book I Heart New York back in 2015 and honestly, it is still one of my favourite books. We Were on a Break is one of Lindsey's newest releases and it is amazing!! Focusing on main characters Liv and Adam, this book is all about on a proposal that didn't go to plan, a relationship on the rocks, career complications and a trip to Japan to find one's self. It's immersive and hilarious similar to every other Lindsey Kelk book.
Left Overs - Stella Newman
This is the book that I'm currently reading, I'm just under half way through and I'm really enjoying it so far. Main character Susie was branded a leftover by a magazine quiz, however she is keen to demonstrate to everyone that she isn't. So far this book has touched on themes such as love, friendship and career struggles. Susie is a completely relatable character and this book is so easy to follow. I can't wait to see how the story unfolds.
The House of New Beginnings - Lucy Diamond
This has to be one of my favourites I've read this year! Following three separate characters Rosa, Georgie and Charlotte, who have all moved to the same building in Brighton. The book explores the three girls issues separately before finding out they have more in common than first expected. This book focuses on building adulthood friendships and overcoming demons. It is completely heartfelt and draws you in from the first page.
Beautiful Broken Things - Sara Barnard
This book was featured in Zoella's 2016 Book Club, I opted for this one because of the gorgeous cover (honestly, it's how I pick most books) and then left it on my shelf not reading it until this year. I'd say this one is definitely a book for teens as it tackles issues that I would have wanted to read growing up. This book focuses on the complexities of female friendship, mental health issues and having your heart broken by your best friend. An extremely relatable book and perfect for a young girl, or adult looking for an easy read.
The A-Z of Everything - Debbie Johnson
This book is the one I found hardest to get into out of all of them. It's one of those books that each chapter is a different character - although I love that style of writing, because some of the chapters in this book are quite short, it does get slightly confusing. This book focuses on two sisters Poppy and Rose, who haven't spoken in over a decade are brought together by the news that their terminally ill mother, Andrea has passed away. However, Andrea has a plan that aims to get the sisters finally back together, despite her passing.
