Breakout Cardiff Review

I was recently invited along to try out the Breakout Rooms* in Cardiff. I went along with my blogging bestie Laura (who is bloody lush, and you should 100% follow). I've wanted to try an 'escape room' for so long, but just never had the chance. Both myself and Laura had no idea what we were in for.
We decided to make an afternoon/evening of it, and went for coffee first in one of my favourite spots in Cardiff - Uncommon Ground. It is based in one of the arcades (couldn't tell you which one, because we got lost when I tried to get us there). I opted for a latte and a Bacon and Brie panini and Laura had a coke. We decided to look up Breakout Cardiff, and find more information about the room we were due to tackle, the 'Cursed Carnival' room. Now, i'm sure you can picture what we were like, even just seeing the name of the room haha!! We were immediately nervous for what we had got ourselves into.

In Cardiff, there are quite a few escape rooms dotted all over the city. Breakout Cardiff is based in the Brewery Quarter, tucked away in the corner.  Once we headed over to Breakout Cardiff, we were both extremely nervous! We were greeted by a member of staff, who told us our game operator would be ready for us soon - this immediately made me want to leave. Once our game operator was ready for us, we were taken to the entrance, and given two clown hats, and doll. The aim was to return the doll to its 'home' in 60 minutes. During those 60 minutes, we faced puzzles, riddles, challenges and had to open the most combination padlocks i've ever seen.
It was the fastest and funniest 60 minutes of my life. Me and Laura were screaming at each other, remembering things we thought we would need, and carrying pointless objects around with us. We got frustrated when we couldn't see something so obvious, and cheered and jumped around when we got through to the next room.
We got to the final room before our time ran out, we were so disappointed because we were so close but still having a huge adrenaline rush from doing something so fun. Our game operator then entered the room, and explained to us what we would of needed to have done to been able to escape, at this point, I was just embarrassed that she'd been watching us the past hour, she must of had a right laugh.

After such a fun hour, we decided not to end the evening there, and headed to Kaspa's for a well deserved waffle, one in which neither of could finish. I opted for the Strawberry Shortcake waffle and Laura had the chocolate and strawberry waffle. We were both defeated, but spent ages chatting away about our evening, blogging and giving each other general life updates.
One of my favourite things about this evening, was getting to spend quality time with Laura, we have done a few blogging events together now, and also meet up regularly! She is an absolute diamond and I'm very glad I'm able to have evenings like this with her, that are so memorable.

Overall, it was one of the best evenings I have had in a long long time. I would definitely recommend going to Breakout Cardiff, it is perfect for so many occasions. I definitely want to go back again and try the disturbed room!! It was so so fun, and I was continuously laughing my head off!!
Have you ever been to an escape room?
*Huge huge thank you to Breakout Cardiff for providing all the laughs!
